Sara DeBerry
Owner / Director
For over 15 years, Sara has passionately dedicated herself to education and childcare. She received her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Indiana University. Immediately upon graduating, Sara moved to New Zealand where she embarked on a transformative experience teaching young children. Witnessing their deep cultural emphasis on nurturing young minds during a child's most critical developmental years ignited her desire to create a similar environment at home. Sara believes the early years are the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
Beyond the classroom, Sara thrived as Program Director, at a private preschool in Lincoln Park. Her leadership ensured smooth daily operations, where she consistently exceeded DCSF licensing standards. Dedicated to nurturing a love of learning and discovery, Sara is committed to providing a space where children can thrive and grow within a secure and stimulating atmosphere.
A resident of Logan Square with her husband and newborn daughter, Sara is committed to being a community asset. She brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to Barnette Academy.
Molly Bell
Director of Operations
With over a decade of experience as a lead preschool teacher across various age groups, Molly brings a deep passion for early childhood education to the role of Director of Operations. Growing up in Chicago and earning a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Occidental College, she has a strong foundation in understanding and nurturing young minds. Throughout her career, Molly has been dedicated to creating engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences and has a proven track record of implementing innovative teaching strategies.
As Director of Operations, Molly is committed to fostering a supportive and enriching environment for both students and staff, focusing on excellence, continuous improvement, and a genuine love for early childhood education. Believing that the formative years are crucial for lifelong learning and personal development, Molly strives to ensure every child receives the best start in their educational journey.

Isiah Heacox
Creative Digital Marketing Coordinator
Isiah brings a blend of artistic talent and classroom expertise to Barnette Academy. He holds a BFA in Illustration from the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design.
Beyond his artistic background, Isiah is passionate about fostering creativity in young minds. He honed his skills as an art education instructor with the Children's Home Society in West Virginia. For over a decade, Isiah also thrived as a lead preschool teacher, where he developed a talent for motivational mentoring and building strong relationships with both children and their families.
Throughout his experience, Isiah has cultivated a unique approach to education, seamlessly integrating creativity into the learning process.
